When you purchase a new support package before your old support package expires your expiration date will be extended to include a credit for the days remaining on your old support package.
Any days remaining on your old support package are transferred to your new support package at the new support package's daily rate.
This means that if you switch to a more expensive support package type you will be credited with fewer days than you had left on your old support package because the price per day of your new support package is greater than the price per day of your old support package.
However, this also means that if you switch to a less expensive support package type, you will be credited with more days then you had left on your old support package.
