Install Building Blocks Framework

If you have modified your web.config file and/or you have already created your own communityserver_override.config file, click here for instructions.

** IMPORTANT - Couto Solutions recommends that you backup your Telligent applications and your Telligent database before installing, uninstalling, or upgrading any of our products. If you are not familiar with backup procedures please consult with your administrator.

You must Install the Building Blocks Framework before you can install any of our products.

The Building Blocks Framework only needs to be installed once so if you have already installed the Building Blocks Framework with a different product or by itself, you can skip this step and continue to the next step of your product's installation.

**It's important to follow the installation order outlined in the product documentation.

To get started, open the BuildingBlocksFramework_1.0.0.0 directory.  The BuildingBlocksFramework_1.0.0.0 directory contains the Building Blocks Framework installation files.

In a separate window, open your Community Server site to the root directory.

Select and copy the web.config and the communityserver_override.config installation files.

If you have modified your web.config file and/or you have already created your own communityserver_override.config file, click here for instructions.

Paste the files into the root of your Community Server site.

IMPORTANT: If you have made any modifications to your web.config file or if you already have your own communityserver_override.config file, you cannot simply copy and paste the web.config and communityserver_override.config files. If you do, you will lose all of your changes.

The web.config file will replace your existing web.config file. You may be asked to confirm that you want to replace the existing file.

Click Copy and Replace to confirm.

Remember, only replace the existing web.config file if you have NOT made any of your own modifications.

Select and copy the bin directory in the installation files.

Paste the bin directory into the root of your Community Server site.

The bin directory will need to be merged with your existing bin directory. You may be asked to confirm that you want to merge the directories.

Click Yes to confirm.

Next, you'll need to locate the Themes directory in the root of your Community Server site.

Within the Themes directory, you need to locate the theme that you are currently using, for example, "hawaii."

Open the directory of the theme you are currently using.

Select and copy the BuildingBlocks directory in the installation files.

Then, paste the BuildingBlocks directory into the directory of the theme you are using.

Next, you'll need to locate the ControlPanel directory in the root of your Community Server site and open it.

Select and copy the ControlPanelBuildingBlocks directory in the installation files.

Then, paste the ControlPanelBuildingBlocks directory into the ControlPanel directory.

The last step is to execute the database script on your database.

Locate the Database directory in the installation files and open it.

The Database directory contains a sql script named BuildingBlocks.sql.

You need to execute this script on your database.

(You may be able to double click the file to open it in SQL.  Then, to execute the script on your database, all you need to do is select your database and click execute.)

Once you execute the database script, you are finished installing the Building Blocks Framework.
